reasons for NOT doing your tai chi practice
Real progress in tai chi as in other worthwhile pursuits requires regular practice and self-discipline. However, in line with my aim of making things that little bit easier, here are some ready-made excuses for not doing your regular training. Oh, and before you ask -- Yes, I have used most of these myself.
Perhaps you could e-mail me with your own favourites so that I may add them to the list

Things are too busy at work
I just don't have the time
Have to look after the kids, ageing relative etc.
I'm too tired
Phone rang, or someone called just as I was starting
My car broke down
I'll do extra tommorow
I did extra yesterday
It's just too hot!
I have to wash my hair
The mind is very inventive especially when it comes to reasons for not doing your qigong. They can seem very plausible but my advice is don't listen to these voices. If you think you don't have the time just remember that people who meditate regularly require less sleep. Even if you are just sitting at home bored your mind will still find reasons not to practice. 'Just Do It'
- Try setting a regular time of day when you won't be disturbed
- Concentrate and don't let the mind wander. Remember if you are short of time, the more focussed you are the less time it will take.
- Enjoy your practice. This a time you have set aside for yourself so make the most of it.
- Fix a minimum length of time, then anything extra you do is a bonus.
- Count how many consecutive days you practice. Aim for 100 days and if you miss a day, start again from 1.
- And lastly, if you haven't already started ... start today. Journey of 100 miles begins with a single step.
